Art is Made as Truth is Pursued

The philosophy of our culture is one of relativity. How do we know this is true? By collective agreement? What if there were an objective truth? Our culture isn’t open to discussing this much these days. Why? I guess a question to ask first is what is truth?

The relationship of art and truth is inseparable. Art represents a culture’s philosophy, so in order to better understand art we must also understand truth, relative or not. Art comes from an inquiry of truth. If truth is relative, then so is art and beauty. It can be said that beauty is cultural, which tends to be the case and is easily understood when one travels for any extent of time into other cultures beyond his/her own. If truth is indeed relative, then are not all things, including the menial such as how one would approach red lights or 4-way stops?
